At 3’o clock in the night, I was brutally attacked by a robber at the place where I was guarding, and my left hand was badly injured. I was hospitalized at the Kenyatta National hospital for three days. I thank Jesus that my life was spared. I attended the retreat at the prayer house from the 31/03/04 – 04/04/08, during which my hand was completely healed. Also on one of those five days I was bitten by a dog, but was not harmed at all. On 20th September 2007, I took an x-ray to the Russian Provincial Hospital in Kisumu, which revealed the beginning of cancer in the large intestines. I was treated to a drug that was very costly, for about a month. However, no sooner had the drug ended than the pain resumed.While in Nairobi, a friend called and urged me to attend a retreat that would be given by Rev. Fr. Bill at the Vincentian prayer house from the 24th to 29th March 2008. I reported on the 25th. No sooner did I enter the retreat hall, than I started experiencing pains all over my body, particularly in the stomach, right shoulder and entire arm. During the retreat, the pains could come and go. But now I feel a complete relief from the cancer in the stomach. I am healed!! I am very grateful to God and to the Vincentian Fathers and community; Fr. Anthony and Fr. Joshy and Br. Joseph for their tireless prayers for us. I also thank my lifelong friend and former school mate, Anastasia, who insisted that I attend the retreat.

I got a lower back injury way back in 1988 and in May 1988, I had an operation. I was able to walk again but my back remained permanently weak. I joined the Vincentian prayer house ministry in 1998 during which time I got inner healing but the lower back pains have continued troubling me. The last two years were very bad for me. But when I came for this retreat by the end of the first day, the pain had all gone away. I am now healed and I thank Jesus.

As I was going home on the second day of the youth retreat , after paying my fare in the bus, I happened to fall asleep with my wallet in my lap. On reaching my destination, I alighted from the vehicle and the wallet fell. On reaching home, I realized that my wallet was missing. I looked all over for it in vain. And I really was very depressed. The next morning a voice told me to search for it at the stage where I alighted and to my joy I found it, intact with all the money and my documents. Also I had been suffering from lack of bladder control for 15 years, so on the last day, when the celebrant asked us to place our hands on the part of the body where we were suffering, I did so and that evening I drank one and a half cups of soup and soda and nothing happened to me. Immediately I knew that I had been perfectly healed, Amen.

I am a student studying abroad. Two months ago I was diagnosed with Hepatitis A. I was very sick and I had to be hospitalized. I was extremely weak and relied on my friends to take care of me after discharge. However I had a longing to have my mother take care of me but she could not come citing that she had to attend a retreat. By the grace of God my dad agreed to finance my coming home. On reaching home my mum encouraged me to attend the Vincentian retreat from 24th to 29th March ’08. Attending this retreat was the BEST decision God made for me. During one Eucharistic celebration we were asked to touch the part of our bodies where we were sick, with our left hand and reach up to Jesus for healing, with our right hand. I touched my liver and felt the familiar sensation of joy and satisfaction and I left that day believing Jesus had healed me. HE HAD! I went for a liver function test and everything was normal. Later on I again fell sick and on going to the hospital was found to have worms and amoeba. But I am really thankful to God because if Jesus has not healed my liver, I would not have been able to take the medication to eradicate the worms and therefore get better. I thank you Jesus, you always know best!

Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I thank God so much for having sent the Holy Spirit to touch me and make a decision by my own self to come to the retreat and healing. For many years, I tried to stop drinking and smoking bhang and cigarettes, as a result of which I lost five good jobs. I also stopped getting help from my relatives and friends due to the addictions I had, forcing me to spend my nights on the streets. I met many ladies who seriously wanted to marry me but later turned me down when they discovered my weakness of drug abuse, seeing no seriousness and prosperity in me. I reside in Dagoretti and when I heard about this retreat I wanted to attend and also bring along many youths from the place where I work. Though there were some problems in getting a vehicle to ferry us to and from the retreat venue, God saw us through and we always had transport for the five days of the retreat. For over 17 years, I suffered from terrible back pain which made me not perform many duties. On the first day of the retreat, I felt better but was not sure. But on the forth day when father asked us to touch the part of our bodies where we felt pain I placed my hand on my back, despite having chest problems and persistent fever since childhood. On the first day of the retreat 31st March ’08, before mass, I wrote down my deep desires and longings on a piece of paper and placed it in the petition box. After the mass I felt a strange feeling in my body, the Lord was healing me of my heart, liver and ulcer problem and now I am not experiencing any of the breathing, heart-burn or hunger pains, I used to experience. Subsequently after the radio and chemotherapy treatment, given to cancer patients, my nerves and internal organs were affected and my left leg became weak, a condition known as foot-drop. The doctors said this condition was not reversible and since then walking has been a problem and I had to be assisted all the time. At the Kenya science retreat, on the fifth day during the special Eucharistic celebration, a word of knowledge was given by the celebrant Fr, Anthony, that the Lord was healing me. I then felt a lot of heat on my left leg and actually walked forward from the back where I was seated, towards the altar unaided! I now believe that Jesus is in the process of completely healing my leg. I thank and praise the Lord for this wonderful miracle. This was my first residential retreat with the Vincentian ministry. I came with a lot of sorrows which were manifesting themselves in severe back pains, elevated blood pressure and headaches. I also had the spirit of rejection, self hatred and regrets in my life. When I came for this retreat at Kenya science I was suffering from allergy of the face which heightened whenever the climate changed. During this retreat God healed my allergy. Since 2004, I had been experiencing numbness on my right hand and right leg, but now Jesus assured me that I am in the process of being healed. Thank you Jesus!

When I came for the retreat on Monday (29th, the first day), I was suffering from headache, like something heavy was on the top of my head. This went on until Wednesday. On Wednesday was the day when we were to receive the sacrament of penance (confession). That day, the Holy Spirit revealed so many sins that I could not even remember committing. I made a good confession and that night I felt relieved of my headache and slept soundly. I thank and praise the Lord so much for this.

My attending this retreat was a big miracle indeed. Until the 28th of December at 5pm, I had never heard of Vincentian prayer house. I had gone to a church in Githurai (a place in the outskirts of Nairobi) to pray. I saw the advertisement of the retreat at Kenya science on the church notice board, and had the desire to attend. The next day, early morning, without any money or luggage I went to Kenya science just to see what was going on. Later in the day I went and picked my luggage and headed for Kenya science. Just as the very first session began, I was already so moved by the Holy Spirit. I have always had strong faith in my God. My prayer to Him always was that I should never fall far from His grace. I thank my God for his mercy upon me. On October 10, 2008, I met with an accident and hurt two ribs on my left side and also fractured some of my bones. During the retreat, the father kept on asking us to lift our hands and praise the Lord. I had a lot of pain and could not even lift my left hand. Then during the special Eucharistic celebration, I felt all the pain had gone and now I can lift my left hand high and can also turn my hand up to the back.
